Animal Health Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Do I need a prescription to order?

Yes. As a licensed pharmacy, we require a valid prescription from a licensed veterinarian for all prescription-only medications (Rx). We can also provide over-the-counter (OTC) supplements and supplies without a script.

How do I get my prescription to you?
  1. Direct Upload: Upload a digital copy during checkout (we will verify it with your vet).
  2. Vet Call: Provide your veterinarian’s contact info, and our pharmacists will call them for authorization.
  3. Mail-In: Send your physical paper prescription to our central processing facility.
How fast is shipping to rural areas?

We offer standard ground shipping (3–5 business days) and expedited overnight options for urgent treatments. For large-scale ranch orders, we can coordinate specialized freight if necessary.

For Farm & Ranch Owners

Can you fulfill bulk orders for herd health?

Certainly. We stock large-volume injectables, boluses, and topicals. If you are planning a seasonal working (e.g., branding or weaning), contact us two weeks in advance to ensure we have your specific quantities ready for a single shipment.

How are temperature-sensitive meds handled?

Vaccines and certain antibiotics are shipped in insulated, cold-chain packaging with industrial-grade ice packs. We typically ship these via overnight or 2-day air to ensure they arrive within the required temperature rang

For Veterinarians

How does the "Fulfillment Partner" model work?

Think of us as your “extended pharmacy.” You maintain the client-patient-relationship (VCPR) and write the script; we handle the inventory, cold-chain logistics, and billing. This allows you to earn a commission on sales without the overhead of physical stock.

Is there a cost for clinics to join the network?

There are no sign-up fees or monthly subscriptions for veterinary clinics. Our goal is to make it easier for you to ensure your patients get their medication while keeping your practice’s operations lean.

What if I need a custom compound?

Please reach out to our compounding specialist team. We can compound unique dosages or flavors for difficult-to-treat patients or those requiring a non-standard dose.

Support & Safety

What is your return policy?

By law, we cannot accept returns on prescription medications once they have left our pharmacy. However, if an item is damaged during transit or if there was a dispensing error, please contact us immediately for a replacement.

How do I know the medications are authentic?

We source 100% of our inventory directly from manufacturers or authorized primary distributors. We are fully compliant with the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA), ensuring every bottle is tracked from the factory to your door.

How do I handle a prescription for a "Herd" rather than an individual animal?

For livestock, we accept Group or Herd Prescriptions. Your veterinarian can issue a single script covering a specific number of head or a specific weight-volume for a flock/herd.

Shipping, Logistics & Storage

What happens if my shipment is delayed in extreme weather?

We monitor national weather patterns daily. If your order contains “Cold-Chain” items (like vaccines) and a blizzard or heatwave threatens delivery lanes, we may proactively hold your shipment for 24–48 hours to ensure product integrity. We will always notify you via SMS/Email if a weather-hold is placed.

Safety & Compliance

Are your medications the same as those at my vet's office?

Yes. We carry the exact same brands (Zoetis, Boehringer Ingelheim, Elanco, etc.) and generic equivalents that your veterinarian stocks. We do not sell “diverted” or international gray-market products; everything is sourced through official U.S. channels.

Emergency Situations

Can I get emergency medications overnight?

For life-safety situations (e.g., acute colic, respiratory distress), we offer Priority Overnight shipping. However, if an animal is in a life-threatening crisis, we always recommend obtaining the first dose directly from your local vet’s emergency stock, as shipping—even overnight—cannot beat immediate “on-the-truck” intervention.

What if my animal has a reaction to a medication?
  1. Call your veterinarian immediately.
  2. Once the animal is stable, contact our pharmacists. We are required to report adverse events to the manufacturer and the FDA/EPA to ensure ongoing product safety.

***Emergency Tip***
If you ever suspect your pet has ingested a human medication or a toxic substance, you can contact the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.

Detox & Recovery Frequently Asked Questions

General Pharmacy Services

How does the pharmacy work with the treatment center?

We act as a seamless extension of the clinical team. We coordinate directly with the prescribers and nurses to manage prescriptions, handle insurance hurdles, and deliver medications directly to the facility. This ensures a dose is never missed due to a logistical delay.

What is "Compliance Packaging" and how does it help?

Instead of a dozen confusing pill bottles, we provide medications in organized, labeled blister packs or multi-dose pouches. Each dose is sorted by date and time (e.g., Morning, Noon, Evening, Bedtime), which significantly reduces errors and helps patients focus on their therapy rather than their pill count.

Is my health information private?

Absolutely. We are fully HIPAA compliant. We only share information with your authorized healthcare providers to ensure the highest quality of integrated care.

Insurance & billing

Will my insurance cover these medications?

We work with most major commercial insurance plans, Medicare, and Medicaid. Our dedicated team performs Prior Authorization (PA) support, meaning we assist in the paperwork needed when an insurance company initially denies a necessary medication. Allowing the clinical team to spend more time caring for patients.

How are co-pays handled?

We can maintain a secure credit card on file for seamless billing or work with the facility’s billing department depending on their specific program structure. Clear, itemized statements will be provided for any out-of-pocket costs.

Medications for SUD & Mental Health

Do you provide Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)?

Yes. We specialize in the procurement and delivery of MAT, including buprenorphine/naloxone, naltrexone, long-acting injectables, and other life-saving recovery medications. We ensure these are handled with the highest level of discretion and regulatory compliance.

What happens when transitioning from Residential to IOP or go home?

Transition periods are high-risk for relapse. We provide medications organized by time of day in multi-dose packaging or we can provide the medication in traditional vials. We coordinate with the care team to ensure patients have exactly what they need the moment they leave the facility. We can also continue home delivery if they remain in our service area.

Delivery & Facility Logistics

How quickly can we get medications for a new admission?

We understand that “intake” doesn’t always happen during business hours. We offer Same-Day Admissions Support and Stat Delivery services. For facilities with an on-site Emergency Kit (E-Kit), the first dose can often be administered immediately while the full prescription is being processed.

How do you handle "High-Risk" or Controlled Substances?

Safety and compliance are our top priorities. All controlled substances are processed with rigorous chain-of-custody documentation. We provide tamper-evident packaging and detailed manifests to help your nursing staff maintain 100% accuracy during shift-change counts.

Pharmacy Support for Staff

Is there a dedicated representative for our facility?

Yes. Every facility is assigned a Dedicated Account Manager and a lead Clinical Pharmacist. You won’t be calling a generic 1-800 number; you’ll have a direct line to the people who know your facility’s specific workflow and patient population.

Compounding Frequently Asked Questions

Is compounding safe?

Absolutely. Compounding is a long-standing practice in pharmacy. Our lab follows strict USP <795> (non-sterile) and USP <797> (sterile) guidelines. We source our raw ingredients from FDA-registered suppliers and use precision equipment to ensure every dose is potent and pure.

Does insurance cover compounded medications?

It varies by plan. While many insurance companies cover the ingredients, they may not cover the “labor” of hand-making the medication.

Pro Tip: We can provide you with a Universal Claim Form (manual claim) that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

How long does it take to fill my prescription?

Because we are “cooking from scratch” rather than pulling a bottle off a shelf, please allow 24 to 48 hours for us to prepare your unique formula. Quality and safety can’t be rushed!

Can I get my medication delivered?

Yes! We offer discreet home delivery and shipping options. Many of our chronic-care patients (like those on BHRT or Pain Management creams) set up auto-refills so they never miss a dose.

Do I need a special prescription?

Any licensed practitioner (MD, DO, NP, PA, or DVM for pets) can write a prescription for a compounded medication. If your doctor is unfamiliar with how to write a compound script, have them call us—we love talking shop and helping providers find the right formula.
